Blot any spills immediately with a clean towel. Blot gently, never rub. Before using any commercial products for spot cleaning test them in an inconspicuous area. Also always follow manufacturers’ instructions for proper cleaning, care and maintenance methods.
Turning over the loose cushions is also a good method of extending your upholstered furniture’s life. Fluff the cushions periodically and especially after you’ve cleaned.
To prevent dirt from becoming embedded into the fibers, vacuum your upholstered furniture regularly. You can also choose to use a brush to clean the upholstery. But be careful when choosing the brush. Make sure that your brush doesn’t snag the fabric.
Position your upholstery furniture so that it doesn’t sit in the sun. Too much of sun may damage the fabric. Also try to avoid pollutants such as smoke or fumes from cooking. As upholstered furniture easily absorbs odors proper ventilation is a need.
Clean your upholstery regularly. The dirtier your upholstery becomes, the harder it is to restore its original appearance.
