Removing Candle Wax from Carpets

Holiday season is over, so it’s a high time to start cleaning. Wax stains are the most common problem after Christmas and New Year’s parties. How to remove these wax drippings from the carpets and furniture?

For the wax removal from the carpet you will need:

1. Dish-washing liquid

2. An iron

3. Ice cubes

4. Plastic bags

5. A spoon

6. Brown papers

7. Dry cleaning fluid

First of all, you need to place ice cubes or ice in the plastic bag and seal it tightly. Place the plastic bag on the wax dripping in order to harden it.

When it is hardened, try to scrape it away with the help of a spoon. Usually it is easy to do if the wax is hard enough.

Now it’s time to use an iron. Set it on a low heat.

Place a brown paper bag on top of the wax dripping. Be sure to use a bag without writings or pictures, because ink can be transferred to the carpet.

And now iron the paper bag. Make sure the heat is set on low.

Leave the iron for several seconds on the paper bag. Iron will melt the wax and the bag will soak it up.

If it is needed use a new paper bag and repeat the procedure until the wax won’t be soaked.

Blot any remaining using dry cleaning fluid; it will help to prevent the damage of the carpet.

Now use dish-washing liquid and warm water to blot the spot and to remove the traces of cleaning fluid.

When you are done, rinse it well and blot it dry.

Now your carpet is clean.

If you still have the problems with the spots, Maria House Cleaning is ready to help. Just give us a call and we will be there for you.
