When you wash your clothes, of course, you use detergents. Nowadays more and more attention is paid to the chemicals that are used in the detergents. Most of them are very harmful for our health. That’s why more people try to make their own detergents that won’t be very harmful.

Instead of using potentially toxic components our experts recommend using homemade laundry detergents.

Soap Nuts

Soap nuts are used while washing your clothes; they release special natural chemical saponin that helps to dissolve dirt and helps to remove stains. It should be also said that you can grind them or make liquid soap by boiling them or just put them in the washing machine with dirty clothes.

DIY Laundry detergent

If you want to prepare the laundry detergent yourself, you will need 1 bar of castile grated soap and 1 cup of borax. Also add to this mixture 1 cup of washing soda.

When you wash your clothes use 1 or 2 tablespoons of this mixture. You may store the detergent in a special container with a lid.

DIY Liquid Fabric Softener

In order not to use fabric softeners that are sold at the stores, we propose making your own skin-safe softener.

You will need one gallon of white vinegar. Add to it 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil, close the container with a lid and shake it well.

When you will do the laundry, shake the container before use again and add 1/3 cup of a mixture to the washing machine.
